Dame Dash’s ongoing legal troubles have reached a critical point as a federal judge has ordered the music mogul to surrender a range of assets to satisfy an unpaid court judgment. According to AllHipHop, the order stems from Dash’s failure to pay a court-mandated $823,284.71 in damages following a lawsuit filed by filmmaker Josh Webber and Muddy Water Pictures.
The dispute dates back to Dash’s involvement with the film “Dear Frank.” After reportedly being removed from the project due to unprofessional conduct on set, Dash allegedly continued to promote the movie under a different title, The List, claiming it as his own. This led to a lawsuit alleging copyright infringement and defamation, culminating in a 2022 judgment against Dash.
Now, U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger has ordered Dash and his company, Poppington LLC, to turn over control of several business entities, including Dash Films Inc., Bluroc LLC, and Blakroc LLC. The ruling also includes his interests in Lebanon Improvements LLC, Ocean East Improvements LLC, and 1996 Songs LLC.
In addition, Poppington LLC is reportedly required to forfeit the copyrights to various films such as Honor Up, Too Honorable, We Went to…China, and Welcome to Blackroc. Unless Dash files objections by June 16, the court has authorized the U.S. Marshal to auction the assets within 180 days. Proceeds from the auction will be used to satisfy the outstanding judgment, with any remaining funds returned to Dash.
Despite the legal and financial setbacks, Dash has received support from peers, including an unexpected show of encouragement from 50 Cent. “Dame where you at bounce back, a little stress but no depression,” 50 Cent wrote in an Instagram post. “A little set back is just a lesson, you get a little arrogant you lose blessings, but when you know how to win you win. So quit f***ing around and win again. Chin up!”
As the deadline approaches, all eyes are on whether Dash will respond in court or face the forced liquidation of his assets.
